Captain EO returns!
On February 23rd, those lucky enough to find themselves at Disneyland got a treat; Captain EO opened to the masses.
This show; staring Michael Jackson as a misfit starship captain; has returned to the Magic Eye theater where it was originally shown. Produced by George Lucas & directed by Francis Ford Coppola, this 17 minute 3D movie is a must see.
Some of the set pieces and general story line are very much "Star Wars" but I chalk this up to Lucas using the set dressing that was around & accessible.
Though the show originally included lasers, projected light effects and smoke; these effects were not included in 2010's re-release.
As a kid I never got to see this show. I begged my dad but he said I couldn't see it. I think he just didn't want to sit through it since he wasn't much of a Jackson fan; but I was a huge fan of Thriller! So when I heard Kevin & Bean of KROQ announce that it was opening that day. I called me husband & said we were going as soon as I got off work. He was a bit disappointed that the effects were gone. We asked a couple cast members working the atraction and they said the effects would not be put in due to saftey issues.
Since we usually find that the cast memebers don't care or know, we will see this show on a regular basis to see what changes might be made.
